![]() HeidelbergCement The mechanical and electrical installation of a double filter system designed for rotary kiln dedusting at HeidelbergCement in Heidelberg Germany.
The customer
As world market leader in the area of additives and leading positions on the market in cement, concrete and other downstream activities, HeidelbergCement is one of the largest building material manufacturers in the world. The core activities at HeidelbergCement cover the manufacturing and sales of cement and additives, both of which are essential raw materials for concrete, ready-mix concrete, cement products and concrete elements as well as other relating products and services round off their product range.
The challenge
One of the largest challenges here was surely the dismantling of the old facility. Here the worn and very heavy parts needed to be dismantled and prepared for disposal. After cleaning the premises we were able to begin with the new double filter unit preparations and ultimately be installed. A complicated matter was the minimum amount of available space for the 140 tons of equipment.
The project
The project at the company included the mechanical and electrical installation of two new filter plants for the rotary furnace dedusting. Since the existing plants for the flue gas cleaning didn‘t correspond any longer to the current pure gas content specifications (emission specification), the company HeidelbergCement had to invest in new filter plants. A bag filter was installed for the new filter system which was able to clean 700.000 m³ of crude gas per second. The crude and clean gas were all integrated into the new system. The final step was enclosing the two side by side filter systems. (Penthouse).
The use for the customer
Due to the very good equipment management and the excellent building site occupation, SGS was able to complete the final installation before the planned deadline. Because of this, we were able to minimize the downtime at HeidelbergCement which drastically reduced costs. With the new system, a much larger amount of crude gas is now able to be cleaned which in turn gives an improvement in output and performance.
