SGS is to become part of SPIE

  Together towards a bright future

Dorf, 25 March 2026 – The SGS Industrial Services Group, a privately owned company that has grown over decades, is set to become part of SPIE, a leading multi-technical services provider. This move marks a significant chapter in the history of SGS Industrial Services – whilst also laying the foundations for sustainable, forward-looking growth.

Founded and built up by Werner Griesmaier, the SGS Group has developed over the past 23 years into a successful group of companies with 16 locations and subsidiaries worldwide. The SGS Group remains an independent company within SPIE Germany Switzerland Austria.

A life’s work continues

For the company’s founder, this step also marks a personal milestone.

“What began many years ago with a clear vision is today a strong, internationally active company. It fills me with great gratitude and pride to have walked this path together with so many dedicated people. In SPIE, we have found a partner who shares our values and will lead the company into the future with foresight.”
— Werner Griesmaier, Founder of SGS Industrial Services

Thanks to the company founder

The management of SGS Industrial Services also views this step with great appreciation:

“We would like to thank Werner Griesmaier for his exceptional commitment, his entrepreneurial courage and his vision. Through decades of great personal dedication, he has laid the foundations for what the SGS Group is today: a successful, internationally active group of companies with strong values and committed employees.

His forward-thinking approach is evident not least in the choice of SPIE as a strong partner for the future. The decision to transform the company into an internationally successful and sustainability-focused group opens up new prospects and creates a stable foundation for further growth. Continuing this life’s work in the spirit of the founder is both our mission and our motivation.”
— Christian Gittmaier, Andreas Hofinger, Sandra Ponsold – Managing Directors of SGS Industrial Services

Continuity in management – stability for employees and customers

A key element of the takeover is continuity in corporate management: the existing management team at SGS Industrial Services, comprising Christian Gittmaier, Andreas Hofinger and Sandra Ponsold for more than 10 years, will remain unchanged and will continue to lead the company independently in the future.

In this context, special thanks also go to Birgit Wagner, who, together with the founder, has played a key role in shaping the development of the group over many years. She will continue to support the transition process, thereby making a significant contribution to stability and continuity during this phase, before stepping down from the management of the SGS Group at a later date.

This ensures that the qualities which have distinguished the SGS Group over the years are preserved: quality, reliability and partnership-based cooperation. For employees and customers, the integration means one thing above all: security and stability – combined with new opportunities through integration into an internationally successful group.

A strong partner with a clear strategy for the future

The SPIE Group is an internationally active company with more than 55,000 employees. The multi-technical service provider impresses with its broad technical portfolio and its many years of experience. SPIE pursues a sustainable growth strategy and focuses specifically on the further development of its locations and expertise.

For the SGS Group, integration into this structure opens up new prospects: close cooperation within the group creates valuable synergies that enable both the further development of existing services and the tapping of new potential. At the same time, SPIE’s international focus creates a stable environment in which long-term growth and future security are specifically promoted.

Belonging to a strong multi-technical group thus provides the ideal foundation for continuing proven practices whilst simultaneously setting new directions for the future.
