After the successful completion of the installation work for the gas and steam combined power plant Lausward in Düsseldorf, SGS again received the award for the electrical and mechanical installation of a gas and steam combined power plant on Malta.

The new system, which is operated by natural gas, provides an electrical output of 200 Megawatt and it is built at the power plant location Delimara near Marsaxlokk in the southeast part of the island.

Siemens Österreich AG is the client, which assigned the installation of three gas and one steam turbine unit to SGS.

The construction site has already been established in October 2015, the completion of the installation work is targeted for June 2016. With a total efficiency factor of 60% for a dedicated electricity generation, gas and steam power plants are among the most efficient power plant types.
