One of the largest energy infrastructure projects in Belgium is being implemented in Awirs, Flémalle. Engie/Electrabel is building an 875 MW power plant.
With an output of 875 MW, it will be able to supply more than 1,000,000 households with electricity. This new gas and steam power plant will represent an essential link in ensuring the country's security of supply in the future.
Essential for this project are the Siemens SGT5-9000HL gas turbine, the SST5-5000 steam turbine and a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG).
And this is exactly where the #SGSteam's know-how comes into play.
Previous projects that were successfully completed together led to Siemens Energy recommending that Engie implement this project with SGS Industrial Services. We are pleased to have convinced you with our performance and to now be able to implement another project in the area of gas and steam power plants.

The plant, which was formerly used as a coal-fired power plant, is becoming the site of the energy transition. The new combined cycle power plant is expected to create supply stability for 700,000 households by the end of 2025.
Our challenges during the approximately 13-month construction period are a large number of heavy-duty lifts, tight delivery schedules due to numerous jobs and trades taking place at the same time in a small space. - Scope of delivery & service

Mechanical assembly of the gas and steam turbine.
